The history of Contempo & Co. actually begins over 70 years ago, with Dolan Spinning and the Dolan family. Established in 1946 by Reg Dolan, Dolan Spinning began in a small factory in Marrickville before expanding in Earlwood in Sydney’s Inner-West.
In the years to follow, Reg’s son Kevin took over the business. With the years that followed, Kevin’s eldest son Carl joined the business and expanded into metal fabrication to allow for the manufacture of small, simple components as well as the production of large and complex projects.
It was in 2004 that Contempo Furniture was created. Using the experience and knowledge gained, a range of commercial furniture was developed. From the design through to manufacturing process, Contempo soon became a specialist in furniture and lifestyle products to cater for the hospitality industry. Dolan Spinning remains an integral part of our history, and makes the company one of the few metal spinning companies left in Sydney.
Fast forward to today, and Contempo & Co. proudly celebrates over 17 years of high-quality Australian furniture design and manufacturing with a new name.
With a team of highly experienced tradespeople on site, we are able to offer a wide range of specialist services, as well as the ability to produce a number of products with state-of-the-art machinery.
We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach to design with our clients, offering great flexibility with the design process, competitive lead times due to our on-site manufacturing, and aim to source high quality raw materials where possible.
